Teatime

Everyday at 5+ in the evening, we’ll have fruits for teatime, unless we’re not at home. I'm glad that XY and CE love fruits. I try to give them a variety - apple, pear, dragon fruit, guava, banana, papaya, persimmon, plum and peach. As fruits are best taken 30 minutes before or after a meal, teatime’s the most suitable time for us.

I used to cut the fruit into small bite-size with a small spoon and feed CE. But now he prefers to feed himself, using a fork. He’ll signal to me when he has a big chunk in his mouth. Sometimes it’s just a wee bit bigger than usual, he won’t choke with that. But it’s good that he knows what’s too big for him. Anyway, I still have to keep a close eye on him when he feeds himself.

With this healthy habit, I hope the kids have sufficient intake of fruits. Hubby’s the only one who doesn’t take much fruits. Just can’t find the right time to ‘feed’ him. By the time he’s back from work, it’s already time for dinner. Even if he’s home on weekends, he doesn’t take much. But he told me he'd buy some cut fruits after lunch sometimes. Well, at least he takes some, better than none at all.

what a great idea, slavemom! right now i'm giving gibran fruits for dinner (mixed in with his rice cereal. quite a large quantity of fruits + a few spoonfuls of cereal). for tea he usually has a piece of plain bread. but this would be better. i think i'll try getting him used to having fruits for tea too.

How I wish Des will take all kinds of fruits like XY and CE. She's a real picky eater, even picky on fruits. She likes only papayas, bananas and sweet mangoes.

CE is so clever... he just know big piece will get him into trouble, same to En En as well. But lately don't understand why my gal refuse most of the fruits that she was once love before... it's getting harder to feed her fruits nowadays. Even she saw and grab with her hands... put into her mouth for the taste, chewed, then spit out and play with that piece of fruits! Haiya...

Sharine, kids r vy unpredictable. It's quite normal that they'll reject something that they used to love vy much. But I think after awhile, it'll get back to normal again.
