Lesson Learnt

Last Sunday, we went to Jaya Jusco in Equine Park for dinner and to do some shopping (for me, mainly). I got myself a pair of Levi's jeans and another pair of sandals. Hubby bought a 20-inch trolley bag for his short business trips.

There was a shoe shop next to the luggage shop. After buying the luggage, I went next door with XY while hubby went to Jusco with CE to get the red packets. Kakak sat at the bench outside the luggage shop taking care of the things we've just bought. While I was trying on shoes, XY was walking around the shop, busy examining some shoes. Then suddenly she was nowhere in sight. I thought she was sitting on the floor where I can't see her. So I looked around the shop but didn't see her. I started to panic a little, especially with so many recent news of little girls gone missing. So I quickly ran out of the shop and saw her in the luggage shop, looking for me. I was so mad at her. I've specifically told her to stay in the shop to wait for me but she just couldn't sit still and went roaming about herself. I can't imagine what'll happen if she's really gone missing. The thought of it sends shudders down my spine. Thank god nothing happened.

I got a good lecture from hubby and obviously, I deserved it. After that incident, I'll definitely be more careful and keep her in sight at all times. It's better to hold her hand all the time. Not just for young girls, we should protect our boys just the same. We should never be careless, especially in such a situation.

When I go shopping with my kids, I always hold on to their hands tight, never letting loose. I am paranoid when it comes to shopping with my kids. If I want to shop for clothes for myself, hubby will bring the kids to the indoor theme park or Megakidz with the maid, safer like that.

ur kakak didnt see her meh? ya must hold hands and keep on calling out our children's names. me always do that, or if i want 2 go into a shop esp to look for my things, sometimes hub will stand at the entrance and kids will be running here and there chasing each other, etc.. pai seh hor...
but then sometimes its the best way we can do, got no maid ma, next time ask ur kakak to watch the entrance and watch ur kids only. the shoe shop oso got sofa 3 her to sit and with kids inside too ler..

Ya, my mom always nag me about keeping an eye on my kid all the time whenever I call home. But sometimes, it's really hard when kids nowadays are so active, right? Anyway, I suppose that's no excuse being a parent.

oh dear, u must have almost jumped out of your skin...must be careful next time coz not easy to handle once they know how to "see" what they wanna see instead of tagging along now.

i'm so glad nothing happened! this is something all of us is guilty of doing at one point or another :( you're absolutely right. in today's insane world, we have to be extra careful with our kids.

Mich, that's definitely much safer.

Jazz, it's so sad that our environment has become like that hor.

Shireen, good idea.

Wen, from now on, XY will be holding 1 of our hands at all times. Must enforce that.

Hazel, thx for the tag. Homework done.

Audrey, how's the situation in HK? Not as scary as in M'sia, I hope.

Sharine, at En En's age, it's even more difficult (doesn't like to hold hands n walk everywhere they like), unless she can sit in the stroller all the time.

Chin Nee, ya lor, now they hv their own 'interests' edi.

Babybooned, gone were the days when the kids can roam ard freely. :(

yes, yes, the news of missing girls really terrify our hearts. i feel that if we really want to buy something, especially clothes and shoes, we have to make sure there is someone else to watch the kids. or else, better just do sight-seeing shop.

Jacelyn, ya lor... coz kids nowadays can't sit down quietly when we ask them to.
