The Day Has Finally Come

... when CE takes medicine on his own, willingly. I'm so happy I don't have to force feed him. He's having runny nose again (2nd time since we came back from our holiday :-( ). I have to give him 2 types of medicine - runny nose and cough. Yesterday, I tricked him with chocolate (which he got to eat some) and an unopened lollipop (which is still unopened ;-) ). Today, I didn't even have to use any bait. What an improvement! *big smile*

After pumping the medicine into his mouth, he likes to use the syringe to drink water. So I let him play with the syringe. He fills up the syringe himself and pumps the water into his mouth. He won't stop till the bowl or cup is empty.

Does this mean force feeding medicine is going to be something of the past? I seriously hope so! And I hope I'm not jinxing it by posting this. *keeping fingers crossed*

He has grown up! My gals were like that too. When they were babies, it was really a traumatic time for both my kids and me to feed them meds. We needed at least 3 ppl and an hour to make them swallow their meds. As they grew (and also became sick more often after going to preschool), they have also learnt to eat meds w/o any probs.... provided there are treats to go with the meds!

Oh..and just to share an experience...many doctors like to prescribe antibiotics whether necessary or not. It will actually weaken the child's own immunity over time. Antibiotics are only good for baterial infection and in most cases, the kids are attacked by virus, hence no need for antibiotics. So, next time, you may wish to confirm with the doc before giving it to the kids :)
