Long Overdue Jab

I finally brought CE to the paediatrician's clinic yesterday for his long overdue Hepatitis A jab (2nd dose). It was supposed to be taken in December last year. But we kept delaying because we sort of forgot about it. :p And when we remembered, he was either not in tip-top condition or sick. Since his paed said it's okay and there's no rush, we didn't bother much. So we dilly-dallied till now.

Statistics @ 3 years, 2 months & 8 days old
Weight - 14.8 kg
Height - 103.5 cm

When he was at the clinic, he didn't want to go into the paed's office. I didn't tell him beforehand why we were there. I had to drag him out of the playhouse. But luckily he was okay when he's inside the room. He was looking at what the paed was doing and saw the needle being poked into his thigh. He said "Ei, pain!" And that's it. No crying, no fussing. I was so proud of him.

The paed then mentioned that he's in the 75-90 percentile group in the growth chart. He used to be in the above 90 group. As long as he's healthy, he said there's nothing to worry.

He also discussed about deworming the kids. He told me it's better for them to be dewormed every 6 months as XY attends a kindy. Funny he didn't mention this 2 years ago (when XY started kindy). I chose the Vermox chewable tablet, instead of liquid form. Well, tablets can be treated like sweets. And true enough, the kids enjoyed their fruity flavoured 'sweets' when I gave it to them after dinner. :-) Nothing unusual is supposed to happen after taking the tablet. Even if there are worms, it won't be visible in their stool. Hmmm... are you imagining worms dangling from the butt? kekekeke

I am not trying to frighten you, but really true that I have saw some white colour worms from my sister buttock (when she was a kiddo). I can see it clearly because the worms only came out at night and my mom used torch light to have a better view on it. Very scary and geli!

I like the way that XY responded to the pain. Very macho and cool!

It's time for me to deworm my gal too. I thought about it some time ago but somehow it slipped my mind until I read your post here. Ok, will go to the pharmacy and get one tomorrow :)

hmm, there is one pead clinic in my area who does that free for kids every 6 months. however the one we frequent went to do not ask us to dewomb unless the kids do not wanna eat/not gaining weight.

Tablet form? That would be great! Let me know the brand so that I can purchase it from the pharmacy. The last time I deworm the children, Nyn actually threw out every single drop that goes in.

My gal is now in Pre-school, should I give her vermox for de-worming??

I remember my sis used to have such problem; itchiness and worms coming out from her anus when she was young!! Scary thinking of my kid having it and I have to check her bottom for worms!!

CE is truly brave to watch the needle go in and not cry at all! Good that they have the Vermox in tablet form. I will keep that in mind. As you said, it's like eating sweets. Shiok! I don't mind eating one too ;p

Glad that the jab is finally done. Almost a year leh!!! Wow!

Believe it or not, I did poo worms when I was 5 years old.
Was hospitalised. The image of the worms swimming in the toilet bowl is still so vivid in my mind.

June, I guess it's to get rid of worms in the stomach, if any. My paed said it's recommended for kids above 2 yo, who attend kindy.

Wen, can't c the worms in their poo one. They wud hv been dissolved, if any.

Serene, I was trying to distract him but he wanted to look at the needle. Luckily he din freak out.

Jo, there r a few brands in the mkt, but my paed prescribed Vermox. The kids thot they're eating sweets. :)

Rose, I guess there's no harm in deworming her. But best if u can chk with ur paed.

Angeline, no more such sight edi, I think. Coz the 'new tech' meds wud dissolve the worms, if any. :)
