Simple Dinner

PaPa played masak masak today and he cooked his signature dish, yam rice. He also tried to cook the vegetable curry (vegetarian style) but the taste didn't turn out quite right. As back-up, I asked Kakak to prepare sambal ikan bilis. :D

He's a better cook (very much better) than I am but he's not been practising. He used to cook when we didn't have a maid. I did the preparations and he'll be the chef. And he was the one to clean up after coz he said I took too long to wash. Well, since you can't stand my slow-motion, you do it yourself loh. hahaha

We invited BIL and family to join us. Just take the opportunity to get-together as we normally don't meet that often (especially the 2 brothers). Even though we live opposite each other, with their busy working schedules (what more with family obligations on weekends), it's no surprise that they don't have the time to hang out together.

The verdict : The sambal ikan bilis went very well with yam rice. The curry was too watery. The durians were a bit dry and some a bit hard, but very fragrant. Everyone was happy and full.

I'm still waiting for the day Popeye cooks for me, be it maggi mee or scrambled eggs. Looking at the yam rice sure makes my mouth water. It's my childhood fav dish. Funny thing, don't see it selling anywhere, these days. Can special order and deliver or not?

Dora, I'm vy thankful he's kitchen-frenly coz I'm quite a lousy cook.

bp, eating simple home-cooked meal at home is sometimes much more comfortable than eating at restaurants. Esp when there're 3 active kids.

Shireen, it's really yummy!

Hey, you are right la. You said to hui sia that maggie also need talent. I am the one that cook, not my maid. Just last nite, i was hungry n I told my hubby," Ask the maid to cook me a noodle la. Maggie mee sure cannot go wrong one". Mana tau, she put too much water and it taste horrible or actually no taste. So disappointed and i told hubby, I've never eaten such horrible maggie. Can u imagine?

Linda, I guess ur maid vy 'ho mia' one - hardly eat maggi mee. That's y no experience. hehehe
