XY missed her first spelling test on Tuesday as she was still recovering from redthroat. I let her skip school to rest at home. When she brought back her "Spelling Book" (a cute little note book with Mickey & Minnie as the cover) before the CNY break, I was very relieved to see that the words given aren't too difficult.
*bee* *heel* *tree* *leaf* *meat*
I think hers is relatively easier as compared to Fungates or Q-dees systems. I tested her on the spot, when she showed me the book and she could spell most of them. I just have to go through with her some of the words a few times and she could spell them already. That's a good start.
This week, she came back with 3 words for ejaan (spelling in Bahasa Malaysia). *hari* *pagi* *dahi* Hmmm... I'm wondering why only 3 words. I think I've to check with her teacher before next Tuesday. Good thing her spelling test is only once a week, alternating the 3 languages.

Kids are very stressful these days I must say. My gal who's in the 5yo class also had her 1st spelling/ejaan/ting xie last wk. Now I've to make her spell and write the given words every wk.
Agree...so young and they're having all these stress! Pity them sometimes when I see them were forced to do lots of homework especially writing the chinese words.
Am so glad that they haven't started with spelling test this year so far. Once it starts, mummy will not be so free anymore ;p
Hahaha, you are right, fungates spelling is impromtu. They don't get to learn before the test.
Wah...kindies are so advanced nowadays. When I was in Primary 1, I don't even know my ABC's..hahha.

My son, brendan, has 3 spelling test per week! One each for english, bm and mandarin. sigh...
Hi Slavemom, please return to my place. So happy you came by. Be seeing you. Lee.
Same here with my Alycia. She now has spelling, ejaan and ting xie every week! So stressful for her and for me. Everyday, got to memorize different words, on top of homework.... then got ballet test some more, haiz...
somehow, i find that d primary 1 spelling/ejaan/thin sieh are so simple...maybe it was only the beginning!! my boys' time in q-dees were much more tough so it makes things easier for me at least at d moment, haha
