... because she cried in school
... for one hour plus
... and teacher doesn't know what's wrong with her.
Wednesday, 3+ in the afternoon
Her teacher (Puan A) asked me to pick XY up as she's crying non-stop. I asked if she's sick or something, Puan A said she's fine. I tried talking to XY on the phone but I cannot understand what she's saying as she was sobbing uncontrollably. So I rushed to school to pick her up.
When I saw her, she was sitting alone in the canteen (it was recess time). Once she saw me, she started crying again. She told me a girl knocked her head and "she didn't even say sorry". And that made her upset. Aiyo... she's so sensitive and emotional. But I think what actually triggered her outburst was FEVER. She wasn't feeling well. I was surprised the teacher didn't realise it coz when I touched her body, it was very hot. But her hands were icy cold. I took her temperature when we reached home, it was 40C. :-| No wonder she cried like a baby... my poor baby.
Brought her to see the paediatrician at night. Doctor said got ulcers in the throat. Suspecting HFMD coz CH (her cousin brother) was infected the week before. Her fever was on the high side and it came back rather fast after medication (3-4 hours). Luckily it subsided on Thursday night. So far, she doesn't have rashes on her hands or feet. Just sore throat which is getting better now. She's rather happy with the privilege of taking cold stuff (milk, vitagen, yogurt -- which is very rare) and ice-cream. I think she should be well enough to attend school on Monday. She missed her first Sports Day in primary school yesterday.
I'm feeling rather "stressed" because I'm worried for didi. Am trying very hard to keep him away from jie jie but they'll eventually end up playing together, in close contact. It's just so frustrating when the kids are getting sick one after another (thankfully not at the same time). I know this is common when they start schooling. It takes time to build up their immune system, especially in didi's case. Sigh... it's part of growing up, I know. They'll get stronger after each attack. I'm also fed up my recent posts are about the kids being sick. But no choice coz I want to jot down their health records as future reference.

HFMD can be very painful but those oral aids does help. unfortunately, it's v. contagious. take care.. it's stressful for kids as well as parents
Oh dear... take care dear. Hope she'll get better soon.. hugs.
it is ok to allow them to mingle together.. it cannot be helped.. in a way, let didi build up stronger immunities.. :) hope they r fine now..
true, normally one child will get sick after another.

luckily she is alright. wish her speedy recovery
I really empathise with your daughter and you when I was reading your post. Simultaneously shaking my head coz suprised why the teacher didn't suspect fever as her body was sooo hot...she was 40 deg ok? Aiyo...Hope she's back to school today and pray that didi will be fine. Take care everyone!
Poor XY!! The teacher so blur one ah. Luckily you are SAHM and can rush to pick her up. I shudder to think what will happen in my situation. It's unavoidable, germs spreading from one kiddo to another. I guess just have to drink lots of fluids so that the symptoms will be milder and can get well faster. Get well soon, XY!!
Poor jie jien... hope she's feeling better now and back to school today.
*sob sob* yr poor little girl, hope that incident won't leave her a bad impression abt school-going :)
gosh...the teacher was so careless, did u later queried her??
yes, hopefully didi won't catch the bugs....else, can't imagine yr stress but we all been thru that :D
take care
not to scare you, but the rashes will only come after the fever and sore throat goes away...
BUT i hope it's NOT HFMD and only fever.
get well soon, XY :)
and hv some good rest yourself when the kids are at school!
Poor XY, hope she is getting better now..ya, they tend to sick easily aft sch..Terry still on mild sick every now and then, but no problem for him to go to school.
ya...it is hard to separate the kids when one is sick. surely kena each other one at the end of the day (sharing breast somemore, hahahaha...) so i just let them play.
i think ure doing the right thing to jot things like this down coz it is so convenient for future references. i hope xy gets better soon!
Oh dear... that's very high fever, and those ulcers sound nasty. Hope XY is feeling much better now. You take care too, ok.
hope she is fine by now. Many children having sick these days, sue to the bad weather too. no worry and do take care.
poor girl. hope she's ok now.
Hopefully, Didi is ok. :)
I hate getting calls from school. I really dread it.
Anyway, hope ur little gets well soon
Poor gal, the teacher should at least check her temperature.
Don't stress or worry too much, just ask didi to wash his hand often or use sanitizer.
Aiyo! 40C and the teacher didn't know? Haiz.. really hate it when kids get sick. HFMD and H1N1 so scary... fever so hard to go down! But what to do? It's all part of growing up. Think of it this way, they'll have better immunity when they're older cos already been exposed to so many types of viruses! :) Take care
The teacher looks so blurr...Hope ur girl wil recover soon.
It is not easy for a mother of two, I understand you! Happen often here. When one kid gets sick, we as the parents try our best to separate the sick kid with other sibling, haih, normally end up both will get sick as the kids like to play together kan? Staying in a roof is hard to separate them ....
Hope she gets well soon
