Ballet Mock Exam

XY had a mock exam yesterday. Since she's got short hair, it can't be bun up. Her hair has to be gelled up, with no hair covering her forehead and face. I just used whatever gel (styling wax) I can find at home. But it didn't have a very strong hold. So I used some colourful clips (don't have black ones) to hold her hair in place.

She came back without the clips on her hair. PaPa told me they said her hair's not 'tidy' enough. And only black clips are allowed. So PaPa bought the extra strong hold gel when he went out later in the evening. We were also notified of the 2nd mock exam. I didn't know there'll be another one before the exam (end of April). Looks like ballet exam is a serious business.

I wonder how she did in the mock exam. We should be getting the feedback later. But I heard it's not too difficult to get through the Pre-primary level. One good thing is she's not terrified of the exam. She was looking forward to the mock one. :D

~ before going for her mock exam ~

Ballet is an expensive activity. She started learning in April last year. As early as 6 months before the exam, she has to attend classes twice a week (to prepare for the exam). Apart from paying for the almost doubled fees, it's somewhat troublesome to send her twice a week (instead of once). Most of the time, PaPa is the driver. Then for her exam, we've to pay for the new attires because she has to wear short sleeved leotard (current one is sleeveless) and a different coloured tutu. I don't mind getting new socks though as her old ones are loose (at the ankle) already. Luckily we didn't have to get new shoes.

New Gadget

I received a package from my brother this afternoon. My new handphone has finally arrived (yay!). I made my order early last week but it was out of stock. So I had to wait for a week. This Nokia N82 is not a new model. But I decided to get it because of its 5 megapixel camera and Xenon flash (can take better pictures indoors as compared to the LED flash). Moreover it has very good reviews on the internet.

My brother is a part-time dealer so I got it for quite a good price. *wide smile* He's really into handphones. It's like an obsession. He changes phones so frequently that every time I go back to Penang, he's using a different model. So it's good that he's doing this part-time to fund his expensive 'hobby'.

This is a belated V-day gift from hubby. He's been pestering me to change my old Nokia 3220. I've been using it for 4+ years already. The battery doesn't last for long. I need to charge it almost every day. I frequently got cut off in the middle of a conversation coz the battery suddenly died (although the indicator showed half full). So high time to get a replacement battery. He wants to get me a phone that can do video call (for that 1 or 2 times a year he's away from home :p). Moreover I've been complaining about its terrible camera.

After thinking for so long (don't want to waste money lah, old phone still working lah, don't know what model to get lah, etc), I finally decided to get a new phone. Better buy it before 'the boss' changes his mind. :D

34 Months Old

34 months and 1 day old

Speech Development
He speaks more Mandarin now, mostly out of tune though. And I was very surprised to hear him reciting numbers in Bahasa Malaysia (satu to sepuluh, with some prompting in between). Apparently, Kakak and jie jie have been teaching him.
Likes to irritate us (especially jie jie) with "What?" when we ask him a question or talk to him, coz I'm sure he can hear us very well.
He can be very polite at times with "please" (he thinks saying it will get him whatever he wants), "thank you" and "you're welcome". Sometimes he demands for "you're welcome" when he's said "thank you".
He has been asking a lot of questions lately and his current favourite is "What is your name?". Once he starts asking (I'm his usual target), he'll ask for my name, then continue with everyone else - PaPa, jie jie, Kakak, Sen Sen, etc.

Persistent
Every time after his bath, he'll ask for his favourite short pants, "Didi want wear brown Mickey" (sometimes with "please"). Luckily he doesn't insist on wearing them (but he'll ask a few times) and he accepts the following reasons (usually without much protest) :
"Kakak wash already."
"Now at night, dark dark already, cannot wear short pants." or
"Today no kai kai, if we go kai kai, I let you wear brown Mickey okay?"

Sleep
I still need to sleep with him, during nap and at night. Still waiting for the day to come when he can sleep on his own (or with jie jie accompanying him). Some nights, I'll sneak out of the room after he's fallen asleep. He usually wakes up 1 to 2 hours after that, looking for me. He gets up, knocks on the door, then goes back to sleep. Sometimes, he wakes jie jie up in the process with his cries and noise. If he's very sleepy, I can just ignore his knock/call. Otherwise, he'll be knocking a few times and start to cry out loud if no one attends to him. The good news (for me) is that he allows PaPa to accompany him, unlike when he was younger, only wants Mami.

Cheater
He always cheats us by saying "last one" or "last time" when he's asking for more of something (usually food). He doesn't mean it coz he keeps asking for more after we've given it to him.

Ready For Kindy?
He's been telling me he wants to go to school. He probably thinks it's a really fun place as jie jie and kor kor go there (kindergarten). He tags along every time I pick XY and CH up from kindy. I told him mommy won't be in school with him, mommy will wait for him at home. He said "okay" but I don't really believe him. hahaha I'll most probably send him next year, as planned. But jie jie won't be there to take care of him. Hopefully he'll adjust well with kor kor there.

Off Day

Today is my off day (sort of). I was off duty from taking care of the kids. :D Went for my facial appointment at noon. PaPa stayed home with the kids. Came back in time for PaPa to send XY to ballet lesson. Made CE nap first before I have my late lunch (porridge).

Then in the evening, we brought the kids to the nearby clubhouse for water play. It's been a very long time since they last played at the pool. I didn't want to get wet so PaPa took care of the kids in the pool. I was sitting at a table near the cafe (where I can also see the kids and hubby), 'guarding' our bag, eating fries and sipping lemon sea coconut. *ahhhh... how relaxing* And when my butt felt light, I walked around to snap some pictures (actually very few) with PaPa's handphone. hehehe

~ water = fun fun fun ~

Definitely a fun day for us (me and the kids, that is). Not too sure about hubby though. :D

Chatterbox

Didi has been very chatty lately. Asking lots of questions too. Sometimes he asks just for the fun of asking. He already knows the answer but he'll still ask the same questions every time.
During bedtime :
"Why off the air-cond?"
"Why off the lights?"

He's also very generous with "Thank you", "Please", "Hi!", "Bye" and "Sorry".
Once he wakes up from his sleep or nap, "Didi want go down please."
Before falling asleep, asking for his sippy cup, "Didi want drink water please."
When he goes up the stairs, he'll bid everyone "Bye!" and when coming down the stairs, he'll say "Hi!"

Some frequently asked questions :
"Mie, why you so angry, Mie?" (When I've just scolded him or jie jie, talk in a stern voice or not smiling.)
"Why jie jie cry?"
"What you doing?" (Whenever he feels like it.)
"Why hit the cockroach?" (Coz he saw us terminating the cockroach we found on our bedroom ceiling.)

Impressive Service

Remember the card I asked hubby to send for me? Which I missed out the postcode when I wrote the address? Well, I was very sure it's not going to reach my mom. Or even if it does, it'll be way past her birthday. So I sent another card (different design) by courier the day before her birthday so that it'll reach her the next day.

When I called mom to wish her, she told me I gave her a scare by sending TWO cards. She thought I was so absent-minded that I forgot I've already sent a card, thus sending another one. :-| She didn't realise about the incomplete address. I told her I'm quite blur at times, but not to the extent of forgetting what I've done. hahaha

I'm really impressed with our postal service. Even without a postcode, they processed it as normal, without any delays. So this year, mom got double the wishes. :-)

Best Mom Award

I received this honourable award from little prince's mummy, Wen and MummyInVain. Thank you so much! I wouldn't dare to claim I'm the best mom but hopefully in my kids' eyes, I am their best mami. :-)

The rules:
1. Show the award logo in your post.
2. Pick a picture you have with your kiddo(s).
* Sorry, I'll have to bend this rule a bit. *
3. Post should include your best experience as a Mom.
4. Nominate other blogger mom's out there that you consider the best mom, like yourself.

Being able to stay at home, attending to the kids every needs and witnessing all their developmental milestones is my best experience as a Mom. Although they drive me up the wall on a daily basis, I've no regrets. I do complain and feel suffocated at times, but hey, I'm only human. If I have to choose all over again, I'd still want to be their slave. Their growing up years zoom by very fast. I consider it a privilege to be there for them every step of the way.

I'd like to pass this award to all the wonderful mommies out there. You definitely deserve this. Cheers to all Best Moms!

New Look

XY has been keeping long hair since middle of last year. As her hair grow longer, they are very messy when not tied up. I'm not too crazy about 'playing' or 'experimenting' with her hair so Kakak has the honorable job of tying them most of the time.

I've been trying to coax her into cutting her hair short, without much success. I let her be coz she won't be able to keep long hair IF she goes to a chinese-medium primary school. But she gave me a surprise when she finally agreed to cut them. That was during CNY, I think. Since then, she's been asking when she can go to the hair salon. Suddenly she's more impatient than me. hehehe So yesterday, PaPa took her out for a haircut.

Presenting the new XY...

PaPa and I like this look very much. She looks much 'younger' and fresher. Kakak must be very happy too coz she has one less task to do.
